Hope

I got together with my small group this past Thursday and we are doing a really good series called “Love Does”. The topic that we hit on had to do a lot with our failures. We are not defined by our mistakes and remember that God still loves us the same as he keeps no record of wrong. This week was more of a calm week for me in school and God just really revealed himself through people as they gave me words of encouragement. My grandma had shown me a picture when I was younger of me in a nurses outfit, carrying a baby and she told me “God knows your heart and I’ve been praying for you and I know that God is holding you when things get too hard, but don’t give up.” I was in complete awe hearing that from her. And then during my small group, the question of “how do you know what you’re calling is?” came up. I questioned what my calling was because I wasn’t sure if nursing was for me anymore. But that’s when a close friend of mine spoke up and said “God opened this door again for you for some reason and even if things don’t work out then there’s plenty more options. But if you desire to be a nurse and you don’t feel lead to do something else then stick to it. God already gave you the victory and now you just have to step out in faith and trust him.” How amazing is that? Lastly, the devotional for this week was about God being the God of Hope. It mentions that “With growth comes the understanding that whether things work out or they don’t, whether you’re able to do what you set out to do or you don’t, whether you receive it or you don’t, you know that everything will be alright because you serve the God of hope. This hope overflows and becomes a shock absorber to your heart when you face disappointment. This hope is from God, and it is filling you now with all joy and peace as you believe and trust in Him.” So my hope and prayer to you is that you not forget that no matter what happens good or bad, God is always going to be there for you. It’s not over yet and God is not done with YOU. In his perfect timing God will bring you the desires of your heart. It’s okay if you hit a speed bump or fall...the most important thing to remember is getting back up. God will be your strength you just have to trust him and leave the rest is in his hands.
