Praying is Believing

My grandma and I were having a conversation. She mentioned, "Prayer has power, but it doesn't have power when you don't believe what you are praying…so that's why we have to believe." It resonated with me so much because it's true. When we don't believe, it's just words coming out of our mouths. There's no purpose behind the prayer because we end up putting God's abilities in a box.

Mark 11:24 says, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (NIV) We already have to have the mindset we have received what we pray for. We have to believe that God has given us the victory for this situation we are facing. We have to believe that we have the strength we need to push through. The second we doubt and stop believing is the second that we have put limitations on God. I have been guilty of praying but not really believing what I am saying because deep down inside, I'm doubting. I can promise you that once you let go of those habits, you can finally experience the power of prayer.

God wants us to believe with our hearts, even if it's believing with the faith size of a mustard seed. One thing that I add in when I pray is, "Lord, help my unbelief." I can't tell you how many times I have prayed those words and felt God helping my heart to believe. He understands that sometimes we will doubt, but he loves when we ask him to help our hearts believe. Pray until something happens and believe with your heart that it's already yours.
