Run to the Father

There’s a song by Housefires called “I’ll Give Thanks.” In the middle of the song it says “In the silence, I choose to believe...you’re working in the waiting. Though the future isn’t clear to me, I trust you anyway.” With this one verse, the message is clear. I’m sure some of us become anxious when we don’t know the outcome. I’ve been guilty of that, especially when things in my life haven’t worked out the way I thought they would. There’s been moments when I felt like God was leading me a certain way and everything was going great, but then took a turn. I didn’t know how to handle it because I always told myself "I want to succeed and become a nurse.”

Funny thing is that life always has a way of working out. I learned this week that the one who created you…already knows. He knows your deepest heart’s desire, he knows what you’re thinking even before you say it, he knows WHAT YOU NEED the most! Luke 12:7 says, “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered." I always think that’s mind blowing how God knows every single detail about us. The amazing thing...is that he cares deeply for you that he took the time to make you and write out your story. He already knew how your life was going to play out, and even though things haven’t gone the way you planned them...it’s going the way God planned them.

The next part of the song goes on to say “ Why do I worry, God knows what I need.” See, he already knows, we just need to learn how to let God handle the circumstances. He won’t abandon you or let you down. You have to remember that if he has brought you this far in your journey then he’s going to come through, he won't just throw in the towel and move on. God is a promise keeper and everything that he says will come to pass. Think of it like this... a child running to their dad when they see him...that child comes and just embraces her dad and knows that they are going to be just fine. Your desires will be met, we just need to trust God's timing. He won’t let us down because just like your family or loved ones care for you...God will care for you the same way. He’s like our father and only wants what is best for us.

It's okay to run to him and let him care for your needs. He truly loves it when you do! The fact that you are letting him take care of you is more than enough. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares for you." Remember that God only wants to give you the very best and nothing less!!
