You're Only Seeing a Small Piece of the Picture
As I got together with my small group at church every week, we started a series called the "Time of Your Life." Last week we finished the series and it was titled "Under the Sun." This series had really spoken to my heart and hearing the last message was really eye opening. I've been at fault, and I tend to lose focus of the bigger things that God is doing. Sometimes when I find that the things that I was praying for or hoping would happen take a turn for the worst, I start to lose sight of something important.
Think of your life like a big puzzle...we obviously need to find the perfect pieces that fit in that certain spot, and if one piece doesn't fit then we try again and use another piece. I remember I had plans on how my life was going to play out...I was going to do this and have this job and have these goals, but that's when life took a turn. Everything that I had dreamt of didn't come through when I wanted it to. I remember being devastated and questioning God..."Why did this happen? I thought you were going to work things out for me?" For a while it felt like God wasn't there every time I prayed, and I felt like he wasn't listening. Truth be told, God's always listening even when we tell ourselves he's not.
God showed me that he's working so hard behind the scenes. Think of it like this, as you go through life you're only seeing it through binoculars...you're only going to see one thing at a time. God showed me that when things take a turn our perspective is exactly like that, we are only allowing ourselves to see one piece. God knows what he is doing and when things don't go the way we had hoped or planned for, it could just be because God didn't feel like you were ready for whatever lied ahead or because he had something so much better for you in store or simply because he was protecting you from something that was going to hurt you in the end. If we just stop looking through the binoculars and take a step back...we can see the bigger picture! And eventually, if we get lucky we can see how everything we went through got us to this one place. We need to realize that God was working things out for our good. When God seems silent, know that he is moving at your behalf and when things don't go the way we planned, remember that you're only seeing the small piece to the puzzle, when there is something much bigger than our understanding! Stop looking at things under the sun and begin to realize there's more to it but you have to be willing to believe that God is working it all out for you...JUST WAIT!
