Be The BEST…YOU!
I was listening to a podcast today from “Happy and Healthy with Jeanine Amapola”. Jeanine and her husband Kaleb were talking about feeling stuck in your faith.
They started talking about the question of “What do you want to change in your life?” Kaleb responded with the answer of self doubt. He mentioned that he experiences these moments where he doesn’t feel like he can amount to anything (he’s not smart enough, not good enough) that lead to anxiety. He gave an example during school where he had to write a paper and they gave writing samples to get you started. Kaleb said he read a sample from this guy and it sounded so good and he thought to himself like I am never going to be able to write/sound like that…I’m just going to give up. He then mentions, “Things TAKE TIME.” It takes time to be good at something. It takes time to grow the kind of faith that you wish you had.
This spoke to me because I still struggle with the idea of comparing myself to others. I was talking to a close friend of mine last night because I just don’t feel like I’m good enough and the things that I was doing before in my life, I am no longer good at anymore. Even with my job right now, I have only been a nurse for 5 months now and I feel like I should be like the other nurses where I know everything under the sun and shouldn’t be asking a million and one questions.
BE LIKE JESUS.
In everything you do, show people who Jesus is through you. It’s like they said… you don’t have to be a pastor or someone that grew up in the church to be able to do your best and show people Jesus through your actions. It does not matter if you work in the office, if you’re a nurse, a grandma, a wife, a mother, a father, a waitress, a teacher… you do the best job that you can do and be different.
Be the best teacher to your kiddos and nourish their minds with knowledge. Be the best mom to your kids and teach them to be kind/loving, to be humble, to forgive, and to live every moment like it was the last. Be the nurse to your patients by being a listening ear, caring for them as best as you can, and looking out for their best interest.
Be the BEST…YOU!
God doesn’t see you any less than a pastor who leads a church or a missionary who goes out to the rest of the world and preaches the gospel. He would rather have you flourish by doing what you were set in place to do. Even if you aren’t good at it at first…remember IT TAKES TIME.
Give yourself grace. Don’t give up so quickly. Just do the best you can do and that is more than enough for God.
