Dry Season
When you hit a dry patch in your life, it’s never easy. You feel like you’re rubbing against sandpaper and nothing you do is fixing the problem. I was at church and reminded that our dry seasons are never permanent; just temporary. The pastor touched base on Ezekiel 37. In the passage, it’s a conversation between Ezekiel and God.
The spirit of the Lord takes Ezekiel to a valley filled with dry bones. The question asked is “Son of man, can these dry bones become living people again?” Ezekiel’s response was “O Sovereign Lord”, I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” God’s response was “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say “Dry bones listen to the word of the Lord!” This is what the Sovereign Lord says, “Look I’m going to put breath into you and make you live again!” How powerful is it to speak life in the name of the Lord?
As the pastor was speaking, he said, “Say this to yourself today, “I refuse to give up!” He continued to say we all enter seasons where we see dry bones surrounding us; some of these bones are from things that we never forgave people for and others are things that we carry as baggage. He gave the example of people when they go camping for 2 days…they pack for a whole month! It’s only 2 days, but they carry all this unnecessary weight with them and at times we can be guilty of that in our own lives. We won’t be able to experience the complete fullness of God’s will if we don’t learn how to let go of what was, in order to receive what is new in this season.
I’ve been in seasons where I felt God teaching me to rely on him first but there were things I needed to let go of. It’s hard to let go of what you thought would be good for you. It’s hard to let go of what you thought for years was “normal” and accustom yourself to something new. It’s a process, but God knows how broken you are or how broken you’ve been and he’s calling you to RISE UP AGAIN! He’s giving you a second chance and telling you to not give up on him. If you have to tell yourself everyday… “I refuse to give up” then do it.
Gods calling you into a new season and it’s time that you speak life into your heart again and RISE UP!
