Even If…

I stumbled upon these two words last night and I gave it some thought. ”Even If.”

In the book of Daniel chapter 3, it talks about a king called King Nebuchadnezzar. He was a man who thought very highly of himself and he then built a statue which was ninety feet tall and nine feet wide! He sent messages all over the Province of Babylon for everyone to come to see the dedication of the statue. In Daniel 3:5, it says, “When you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and other musical instruments, bow to the ground to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gold statue. Anyone who refuses to obey will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace”

Daniel 3:12, “But there are some Jews– Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego…they pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They refuse to serve your gods and do not worship the gold statue you have set up.” The king was furious and offered them a second chance. Daniel 3:17, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. Verse 18, “But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” At this point, the king was filled with anger and commanded that the furnace be heated 7 times hotter than usual!! I can only imagine how HOT that would of been. The king ordered the 3 men to be tied up and be thrown into the furnace. As the king watched the men burn…he saw another person in the fire with the 3 men. Verse 25, “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted, “I see four men, unbound, walking around the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!” He then orders the men to come out and with everyone waiting, they see that the fire had NOT TOUCHED THEM! God was in the midst of the fire with them and the fire did not burn them. These men chose to stand by God and only worship him, even after the King ordered all people to worship the statue. Such a powerful story.

Even if…

Even if you feel like life is hitting you from all directions; GOD IS STILL GOOD. Sometimes we face challenges because it helps us to depend more on God. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were just 3 ordinary people (like you and me) that believed in the mighty power of God. I am sure they were scared… we’re only human, but they trusted that God was still God. Even if you don’t understand why you’re in a waiting season; God is working on your behalf and giving you something better. Even if you’re in shock after receiving news of a chronic illness; God is going to give you the strength and will use your journey to help impact others going through the same.

Stand in faith.

Remember…even if life is messy; God is creating his masterpiece.
