The Power in His Name

The power in prayer. The power of saying “ in Jesus Name.” The power of believing the words you speak. The power of standing in the gap for a family member that they find their way back to God. The power of believing your situation has changed for the better. The power of believing your medical diagnosis is no greater than the Almighty one. The power of speaking the truth and promises that Jesus has already spoken over you.

This is a genuine kind of power that only comes from Jesus. He has given us opportunities to come to him and lay our burdens at his feet. What seems impossible to man, is not impossible to him. He has given us that authority and victory through prayer to speak to whatever giant may be standing in our way. He has given us that confidence to believe that we can make it through whatever we may be facing in this season.

I believe in the power of prayer and the power the name Jesus carries. He believes it for us, but we have to believe it for ourselves. He already knows what is in our hearts..but he wants us to open up our mouths and tell him ourselves. I was reminded today during prayer that Jesus hasn’t left us. He hasn’t forsaken you because of all the mishaps you might have done. He hasn’t disowned you as his heavenly child.

Jesus intercedes with us in prayer. The minute you open your mouth and start to pray, he comes into agreement with you. He calls you to him with his arms wide open…ready to embrace you. He desires to give you the best of the best if you just believe that in his name great things will begin to happen.

There’s a story in Luke 8: 43-48, about a woman who had a bleeding issue for 12 years. There was nothing that could be done to help this woman; it was something that she would live with forever. If you read this passage, you feel the desperation this woman had to be healed. The moment that she hears that Jesus is walking through the village, she knows in her heart that this was going to be the moment. This was her moment to walk outside of her house to see Jesus and be healed. She believed with her heart that this man, Jesus, had the power to heal. She gathered among the crowd and pushed her way through to get to him. She held on tight to the little bit of faith that she had. She managed her way to the front and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. In that instant, Jesus said “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.” He felt the power behind her faith and told the woman, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

I can never get over this story and how powerful it is. This woman for 12 years had an incurable disease, but throughout those 12 years she never lost hope. She never lost her faith. She kept pressing in and believing her healing would come. Jesus showed up and she found healing. I share this story with you to give you encouragement to keep praying and to believe in the name of Jesus.

Don’t lose hope. Remind yourself today that there is power in his name!
